The chess world in Batam City is back in full swing. BP Batam Chess Club is scheduled to be inaugurated to coincide with the opening of the Amsakar Chess Cup (ACC) II Open Tournament which will take place on December 20, 2025 at Mega Mall Batam Center.
This prestigious tournament offers quite the prize pool. The organizers have prepared a grand prize of a motorcycle and a total prize money of Rp 23.4 million.
Until now, 146 chess players have officially registered themselves to take part in the Amsakar Chess Cup II Open Tournament which will be held for two days, namely on December 20-21, 2025.
This event was not only participated by amateur and professional chess players, but also by top chess players.
One International Master (IM) and five FIDE Masters (FM) are set to take part in the competition.
“That’s right, IM Pitra Andika from Central Java has registered,” said the Chair of the ACC II Committee, Iyus Rusmana, in his statement, Friday (12/12/2025).
Iyus explained that the five FIDE Masters who have been registered include FM Arif Rahman Saragih, FM Kamalsyah Muhammad from West Kalimantan, FM Emas Fajar Fatikh from Banten, FM Deni Sonjaya from West Java, and FM Nelson Villanueva from the Philippines.
Enthusiasm for the tournament also came from overseas. A number of chess players from Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines also confirmed their participation in ACC II.
“Later there will also be representatives of chess players from Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines who have officially registered,” said Iyus.
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be even more special with the inauguration of BP Batam Chess Club. This inauguration is a long-awaited moment for chess enthusiasts in BP Batam.
“We hope this club can be a forum for BP Batam chess players to hone their skills, as well as pave the way to national and international tournaments,” he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the ACC II Committee, Rico Yuliansyah, said that participant registration is still open until Friday, December 19, 2025, at 12.00 WIB.

GM, IM, FM, WGM, WIM, and WFM: free
Batam participants, female category, and juniors (U-15): Rp 100,000
Participants outside Batam and overseas: IDR 150,000
