Batam is the first Free Trade Zone (FTZ) opened in Indonesia (since 1973) which covers Batam, Tonton, Setokok, Nipah, Rempang, Galang, and Galang Baru and is located in one of the busiest shipping channels in the world between Sumatera and Singapore.
Batam benefits from its proximity to Singapore, which gives investors the ability to use the infrastructure in Singapore when the facilities in Batam are inadequate.
Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BP Batam) is an institution established under Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation No. 46 Year 2007 with the duty and authority to implement management, development and construction of the region according to its respective functions.
