BP Batam has the duty to improve the quality of environment as one of the requirements for a highly competitive investment area, to carry out the management and development of Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority.
In order to create an environmentally sound investment area, BP Batam built a testing laboratory in 2009 which has been accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) with Number LP-746-IDN which is located at the Batam Politeknik area.
The establishment of this testing laboratory is based on the European Union (EU) policy regarding the prohibition of the Restriction of The Use of Certain Hazardous Substance (RoHS) on the use of 6 hazardous materials, and the implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for Children’s Toys.
In addition to the testing of contaminated scrap, and RoHS testing on electronic components, as well as their supports, BP Batam Test Laboratory provides testing of liquid and solid industrial waste.
Testing for industry is carried out by the BP Batam Test Laboratory to meet regulatory requirements, so that laboratory service users in Batam no longer be required to send samples to laboratories outside Batam.
The types of samples that can be tested at the BP Batam Test Laboratory include:
- Liquid Sample;
- Solid Samples such as: plastic ore, plastics, electronic components, and metals.
BP Batam Test Laboratory is equipped with highly-calibrated chemical instruments, and has the trained analysts team to perform basic analysis, along with chemical instrumentation.
The chemical instruments comprise of an X-Ray EDX 8000, Hydride Vapor Generator (HVG-I), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Forier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Microwave Digestion, ICP OES Optima 8300, Flow Injection Mercury System (FIMS), Grinding for Polymers, and more.
BP Batam Test Laboratory applies standards of quality assurance that refer to ISO 17025 as a form of excellent service to consumers.
